September 25th

Today started off with our breast cancer run. I feel like the Italians don't understand what the purpose of a schedule is and it is quite humorous. We were supposed to start the event at 9. The gun didn't go off until 9:30 and even then, it took us about 15 minutes to cross the start line. The entire thing was just so unorganized that it made me really realize how the Italian culture is just so "go with the flow". I could keep going about the experience, but I would just end up rambling, if you would like more details, we can skype about it.

I went to a new church this morning because I got done with the run later than I had hoped for. This one was just a little church that is down the street from my apartment. I have often wanted to go to this one and see what was inside but had never taken the opportunity. It was obviously in Italian so I made sure I had my rosary with me and just said that during the mass until communion then I understood what was going on, sort of.

Lunch today consisted of a sandwich that had salami, bologna, cheese, and tomato. And after lunch I skyped with Catie and we figured out the details of my trip to go and visit her! I will leave Florence on October 7th where we will play in Milan for the day then go up to Lugano where she lives until Sunday. I am so excited! This will be such an adventure and I can't wait to see her.

After our great date, I went to the market and then to go grocery shopping for the dinner I made from the cookbook. I will go shopping for more things on wednesday but for now, I have leftovers from tonight's dinner. Freddy and Adrian came over for a dinner and it was delicious. I made a salad from my cookbook that had tomato, cucumber, red onion, and bread in it. (Sound familiar, mom and dad?) And the spaghetti I doctored up from what was in the cookbook. It had tomatoes which I stewed, onion, garlic, red pepper flakes, and panchetta. It was so delicious and I am so excited for left overs tomorrow!

After dinner I was able to skype with Chris and hear about how Ronnie's birthday party went, apparently fun was had by all. I finished the night with homework, gross. I did so much homework this weekend, I forgot what it felt like.

  1. You should probably pay more attention to what they are saying during the sermons because it may be a good way of picking up the language when you have a general idea what they are talking about
